Group which is estimated to have sold no less than 12 million records to date around the world, just that...
Group which quickly stands out for its concerts whose staging can seem shocking with semi-naked models attached to racks of torture but also by throwing raw meat in the public...
It was the signing with the Capitol Records label that allowed them to release their first Single “Animal (Fuck like a beast)” in 1984, a Single with a provocative, even shocking cover. This will not prevent the title from offering them a first major success, to say the least unexpected, a title that will not be found on their first eponymous album which will be released the same year. A voluntary omission on the part of the production to avoid any further controversy...
Success confirmed and amplified the following year with the release in 1985 of "The last command", an album which produced mainly the hit "Bond in Texas".
A success that is beginning to seriously disturb the PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center), an organization that tracks down and opposes groups whose song lyrics incite violence or are openly sexually outrageous. With the key to death threats on the members of the group, threats of bomb attacks in the concert halls and even attempted murder of Lawless twice...
This will not prevent the group from releasing the new album "Inside the electric circus" in 1986, an album which will paradoxically benefit from all this counter-publicity and whose flagship Single will be "9.5.- N.A.S.T.Y".
The semblance of consecration comes 3 years later in 1989 with the release of the album "The headless children", album which will produce the biggest Single of all their discography with the title "Mean man".
Another album "The Crimson idol" will find favor with the public in 1992 with the enormous title "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the new morgue)".
Major success which will indeed be the last because the albums and Singles which will be released thereafter will not know anything about the success achieved by the group at the end of the 80s...
