Vesta Williams, whose real name is Mary Vesta Williams, was an American singer-songwriter who started her artistic career within the 'Williams Sisters', a short-lived group where she shared the stage with 3 of her sisters.

We will later find her in 'Wild Honey' then as a luxury backing vocalist for Chaka Kahn, Gladys Knight, Sting, Stephanie Mills, and other Anita Baker…

This allowed her to be noticed by the A&M Records label which signed her and allowed her to release her first album in 1986 called “Vesta”. Album which will experience significant success upon its release and above all produce what will remain as the biggest success of its entire Singles discography with the title “Once bitten twice shy”.

New album “Vesta 4 U” two years later in 1988, an album which will remain as the highest ranked of all, notably thanks to the Single “Sweet, sweet love” which will be released the same year. But also and above all “Congratulations” which was released a year later in 1989, a Single which will remain the highest ranked of all in the United States.

The year 1991 saw the release of the album "Special", an album with less success and which narrowly escaped with the title which bears the name of the album.

Other albums and other Singles were released subsequently, but none were able to match the level of success achieved by those released during the 1980s.

Singer who left us prematurely on September 22, 2011 at the age of 53 following a hypertensive heart disease.

1986...first title and biggest success in the singer's entire discography. A startling start to say the least that will have to be confirmed later...

1987...and precisely in this type of start, which is dazzling to say the least, it is managing to maintain oneself at the highest level which often poses the most problem...

1987...the titles are classified, of course, but the level of classification no longer has anything to do with what she experienced on the first title...

1987...despite a more than obvious versatility of styles, this will not be enough to bring her back to the forefront. Hard law of the trade...

1987...4 titles were released during this year 1987 which is not nothing even if they only experienced a limited level of success to say the least...

1988...in terms of albums, it is this new opus which will remain the highest ranked in her entire discography. Paradoxically, this title will be well ranked but nothing more...

1989...after a year 1988 surprisingly poor in titles, the year 1989 will allow the singer to show that we will still have to count on her in the years to come...

1989...a mastery of the 'emotional' register which will bring her one of her biggest successes at least in the United States. MA-GIC !

1989...she was good in all registers which really made her a particularly complete artist...

1990...and my goodness, at 2, it's even better ! Here she is in duo mode of shock and charm all on a title full of finesse and lightness once again. We definitely want more...

1991...a new decade of the 90s which will prove to be a little more complicated to manage than expected, despite an obvious desire to do well...

1991...she still continues to rank her titles but we can sense that the deceleration is accelerating year by year...

1993...her last major hit and yes, already. She will have managed to maintain herself at the high level for around ten years, which is already a significant performance...

1993...the second part of her career will already be more on the fringes of rhinestones and sequins. Afterwards what is taken is no longer to be taken as they say...
