Julie Pietri, whose real name is Nicole Juliette Pietri, is a French singer born in Algiers. It was during the summer of 1962 that his family urgently left Algeria following independence and came to settle in France. As a teenager, she frequented many jazz clubs following her big brother. It was at the same time that she decided to reverse her two first names. She entered the musical career by integrating from the age of 15 the group "Julie + Transit" with whom she was content to do mainly covers. Group that still records a single called "On s'est laissés faire", without much success of course. Despite obtaining the speech therapist diploma, she reoriented herself towards music by integrating on audition La Bande à Basile in 1977. Where she played a gypsy role. And it was in this very famous troop of the 70s that she got noticed by CBS. Record company which offers him in 1979 to interpret the song "Magdaléna" which quickly becomes a hit. 1980 will be the year of his first album written by a certain Jean Schulteis. And in 1982 released the single "Je veux croire" which will be his second big success. At the same time, she uses one of the flagship titles of the Pretenders, namely "I go to sleep" which in French becomes "Et c’est comme si". New winning move and new success. But it was especially in 1983 that she saw her popularity grow when she performed "Amoureux fous" in duet with Herbert Léonard, star singer at the time. 1984 and 85 will see the release of the single "Tora Tora Tora" and "A force de toi" which will also be successful. 1986 being the year of the ultimate consecration with the release of the now legendary "Eve lève toi" which will be number 1 in the french Top 50 and will remain classified for more than 6 months. Other albums will be released which unfortunately will only experience relative success. Ending the career of this colorful singer and who will remain one of the icons of the 80s. Tracks :
1979 ... the title of the revelation ! A tailor-made song that smashes her from the shadows into the light
1982 ... we too believe in this undeniable talent which will produce one of the biggest hits of the 80s
1982 ... a sudden acceleration of the career thanks to this luxury cover of the sumptuous 'I go to sleep' of the Pretenders
1983 ... hot hot ! When 2 stars of the moment sing together, inevitably, it produces a hit of very large caliber
1984 ... a little-known transitional title. Well, it's not the masterpiece of the year, that's clear. But the beautiful Julie cannot be on top all the time
1984 ... a rise in power that nothing and no one can stop. Obviously the best is yet to come !
1985 ... a little sweet parenthesis just before the supreme consecration. All on a new luxury cover of Jim Diamond's hit 'I should have known better' dating from 1984
1986 ... the HUGE hit which makes her definitively enter the musical legend of the 80s on the French side. A title that will undoubtedly remain as one of the biggest Dance hits of the decade. And who hasn't aged a bit since its release !
1987 ... another excellent title which will not have the fame of the previous one. Too bad because it is not without interest, far from it ...
1988 ... a year with a high class Ultimate Slow as its only title. We will be largely satisfied with it. MA-GNI-FI-CENT !
1989 ... the years go by without the melodic quality weakening by an Iota. Almost 10 years at the top, who says better ?
1989 ... always as rhythmic, always as inspired. Despite this, it is a lackluster end of the decade ahead for the artist ...
1990 ... a change of decade that takes place very smoothly. An Ultimate Slow of great beauty but that will not be enough to straighten the bar in a sustainable way ...
1995 ... come on, a little last for the road. And not just any. A sumptuous cover of a title track which is no less so, namely 'I'll stand by you' by the Pretenders. MA-GIC !
